Bringing it back to summertime in the 80’s the Kenneth Cole Spring 2014 Collection looked to New York for hair and makeup inspiration. Getting in touch with a more urban, hip-hop feel the collection incorporated light flowy harem pants, crop tops, and hoodies. But stepping outside the box, models strutted down the runway in captivating makeup and hair.
Esther Langham from beauty.com used Alterna products to style these bold do’s. Starting with a head full of wet hair she added Alterna Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist and Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Amplifying Mousses Volume, Texture & Control. Next, starting at the roots, she blow dried the hair with the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i hair dryer and straighten loose ends with the T3 Single Pass, Straighten & Styling iron. Langham then began to braid the hair, starting with a center part and braiding along the sides of the head. To keep it all in place a little Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Extra Hold Hair Spray & Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Polishing Serum was used. The results were two tightly braided cornrows with loose textured waves at the ends.
To compliment the hair an intense vibrant palette was used to line the eyes. Inspired by a green June Bug beetle’s shell makeup artist Romy Soleimani used a mixture of yellow and green Mac pigments for the eyes. Using a Mac Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner in Black Line Soleimani blended these intense pigments on top. At the teardrop of the eye Romy Soleimani uses a gold pigment, green, and black and brown creating an ombré effect surrounding the eyes. For the cheeks and lips a more subtle approach was used. The cheeks had a copper peach sculpting cream and lips were a blend of Spring 14 Trend Forecast: Lip Palette, keeping it very fresh and natural. Topped it off with Mac’s Haute and Naughty Lash Mascara gave it the edge and tough feel that balanced out the collection perfectly.
