BEST-SELLING BRITISH SOLO ARTIST JESSIE J TO SWITCH ON

THE OXFORD STREET CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Capital FM today announced Jessie J will switch on the UK’s most spectacular Christmas Lights on London’s Oxford Street on Tuesday 12th November.  The event, hosted by the world’s top department store, Selfridges, will also feature Conor Maynard and X-Factor winner James Arthur. The dynamic singer songwriter will perform some of her biggest hits in front of thousands of eager Oxford Street shoppers.  Jessie J, whose debut album sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide recently released her follow up album ‘Alive’ and is just finishing her sell out 19 date UK arena tour.

The world famous Oxford Street Christmas lights have undergone a £1.5million transformation. The lights, inspired by falling snowflakes, will kick start the festive season in style, with shoppers enjoying the sight of three quarters of a million LED bulbs lighting up Oxford Street.   The switch on event, with a specially built catwalk stage outside the front of Selfridges, will start at 5pm, hosted by Capital FM presenters Lisa Snowdon and Dave Berry.

Jessie J says: “I’m so excited to be turning the Oxford Street Christmas Lights on this year. I’m honoured to be a part of such a big event in London’s Christmas season! What a way to celebrate the end of my tour!”

Sally Eden of New West End Company, organisers of the event, says: “The Oxford Street Christmas Lights are always a spectacular sight, and this year, with the new design, they will look even more wonderful. The switch on event will be bigger and better than ever as we ring in the festive season with the cream of the UK artist crop”

The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Sarah Richardson, says: “The illumination of the Oxford Street Christmas Lights is an iconic moment in Westminster’s Christmas calendar. It heralds the start of the season for many, boosting local businesses by attracting shoppers and visitors from London and elsewhere to this spectacular destination.”
