Guerlain Chicherit World Longest Car Jump Attempt

Guerlain Chicherit World Longest Car Jump Attempt

Friday 14 March, Tignes, France – Not content with being the first man to successfully backflip a car in 2013, Monster Energy’s Guerlain Chicherit is pushing for another World Record in his hometown of Tignes, France this week.

Two years in the making, his latest daredevil stunt sees him attempt to beat the current longest car ramp jump record of 101 metres in his one-of-a-kind MINI, at the same location of his epic backflip last year.
The Frenchman has put the hours in over winter, preparing the MINI out in the US with his team of engineers, with the car arriving in France just over a week ago to prepare for the record.
His testing programme has run well so far, comfortably landing 71 metres in his first run on Tuesday. He followed it up with a stomping 80 metres on Thursday and another solid jump this morning as the sun beat down on the slopes of the Espace Killy region.
Hitting a top speed of 200kph before launching from a specially-prepared metal ramp towards the huge snow landing, it doesn’t take a genius to realize that a stunt like this takes huge balls to attempt.
Emerging from the car into the blazing sunlight – Guerlain jogged straight back up the landing ramp to see how far he had flown and told us how he felt. “I feel quite good with the car – it’s flying really well. We still have twenty metres to go which is quite far but we are all positive and we will do our best to beat the world record. Maybe by five or ten metres if possible!”
His test jumps will continue Saturday until the final public event takes place on Sunday morning, approximately 9am CET, where he hopes to be crowned by the Guinness World Record adjudicator on hand to make it official.
