|VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus Showcase Has Opened in Sochi|
|Sochi, February 7, 2014 — Today the VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus showroom has opened in Sochi, in the Olympic Park. Michael Macht, the Board of Management member, Volkswagen AG, Marcus Osegowitsch, General Director, VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus, Michael Oeljeklaus, member of the Board of Management for Production and Logistics, ŠKODA, Gerhard Schröder, German ex-chancellor, Ilya Averbukh, multiple Russian national figure skating champion, Salt Lake City Olympic silver medalist and VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus ambassador at the Sochi Games, Vanessa Mae, the star violinist which was recently qualified for the Games in Sochi, Fabio Capello, the head coach, Russian national soccer team, sport stars, TV, radio and show business celebrities have attended the event.|
In his address Marcus Osegowitsch, General Director, VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus emphasized: “We have done tremendous job to make this happen, and we are proud with our company’s contribution to one of the most significant events in the recent Russian history. We have granted nearly 4,000 Volkswagen, Audi, ŠKODA and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles cars to the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee. These vehicles will be the key transport service providers at the Games in Sochi. Our showcase in Sochi is located right at the heart of the Games and is intended to promote the celebration spirit both for the visitors and for those who have been unable to come to Sochi. To do so, we have arranged numerous ways to broadcast information”.
After the ceremony the visitors watched the premiere run of Ilya Averbukh’s Living Medal Count dancing show. 56 artists participated in the show, including Facebook’s VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus nation-wide contest winner. Three times a day the show will inform the guests of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi about the current status of the national trials and the medal table.
“Living Medal Count is a daring experiment, and to a larger extent it goes impromptu”, Ilya Averbukh, the producer, explains. “We are so happy to present such an unusual, vivid and robust performance to the Olympic visitors”.
During the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus showcase will also become an information center for the year’s most prominent sports event. The showroom floorspace is about 2,000 sq.m. It houses an interactive screen, a radio broadcasting room, a dancing show area, a visitor area, a press service area, and a reception hall, as well as the Czech and German National Olympic Committee headquarters.
The showroom outer wall features a huge interactive screen. Every day the events in the showroom, the most important events of the day, and the Living Medal Count dancing show are broadcasted on the screen.
The second level includes the press area, the reception hall, and the Czech and German National Olympic Committee headquarters. Here the Czech and German National Olympic Committees will host their press conferences, and a Czech TV channel will have live broadcastings and live-ups to Prague.
Sergei Stillavin’s radio broadcasting room in the company’s showroom will be a source of the most recent information about the major sports event of the year. The traditional morning show on Radio Mayak has been already broadcasted from here. The radio host talks to famous athletes, Olympians, artists, and others who care about sports.
|There is a surprise for the Olympic Park’s visitors in the Imeretinsky Valley: it is an unparalleled quattro hill attraction, a 12 m high artificial mountain ridge. With the help of the experienced “quattro school” instructors, an Audi A6, a 4×4 business class sedan, will drive 12 m up over a 30 degree slope, and on the peak the passengers will see a spectacular view of the Black Sea coast and the Olympic Park. This construction is a symbol of the quattro drive popularity in Russia: in 2013 Audi became a leader among the luxury brands in 4×4 vehicle sales. Over 70% of the vehicles made in Ingolstadt and sold in Russia are full drive cars: the engine torque is transmitted to all four wheels.|

|About the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games|
The XXII Sochi Winter Olympic Games will be held on February 7-23, 2014. 6,000 sportsmen and team-members from 85 countries will take part in the Games. 98 medal sets will be awarded in 7 Olympic sports, which is 12 medal sets more than in the Vancouver 2010 Games and 14 medal sets more than in the Turin 2006 Games.
The XI Sochi Winter Paralympic Games held on March 7-16, 2014 will gather 1,650 sportsmen and team-members from 45 countries. 72 medal sets will be awarded in 5 Paralympic sports.
25,000 volunteers and about 13,000 accredited press representatives, broadcasters and photographers will work at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games. The Games will be viewed on TV by over 3 billion people all over the world.
